“Middle Kingdoms”: Stephanie Barenz Experiences China Through MKE Eyes

River Edge Gallery is pleased to announce the presentation of Milwaukee artist Stephanie Barenz’s newest paintings. In Middle Kingdoms, Barenz explores the sanctity of knowing one’s neighbor and was stimulated by a year spent teaching in, and exploring, China.  Her work shows an exciting mix of Midwest and Chinese influence. The Exhibition begins with a reception with the artist Friday, November 30 from 5-8 pm.

Barenz received her Bachelors of Art from Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, Minnesota, with a year spent in Florence, Italy. She continued her education as a resident artist at the Chicago Printmaker’s Collaborative and then completed her MFA in Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis. Her studio is currently at Reginald Baylor’s Plaid Tuba in Milwaukee. Barenz is also recently featured in Schiffer Publishing’s new book 100 Artists of the Midwest, released in June, 2012.

River Edge Gallery is located at 184 S. Main St. in Thiensville’s historic river district. Hours are Thursdays and Fridays 12-5; Saturdays 12-4. Middle Kingdoms will run through Saturday, January 26, 2013.
